wingoflames #DBGB3 Mixtape Review
With the third installment of “Dat Bul Got Bars” Wingo Flames from Nicetown, an area in the North side of Philadelphia. Also home to a prominent Philly artist of the early 2000’s Young Chris. Wingo is way more aggressive with his delivery and I’m sure a lot more hungry. With music being very accessible now through the internet I like the approach that Wingo is taking with this album by taking to the streets and only releasing the mixtape on his website. So be on the lookout for “Dat Bul Got Bars 3” on July 30th.
"Love You No More" shows you why "Dat Bul Got Bars" no pun intended. A crazy intro to the mixtape and sets the tone for all the tracks following. Either on your way to the club or grindin’ in the "Trap"(Alternative Demand Definition at the bottom) On the next track "My Block" Wingo brings in some help from Young Ty. Wingo speaks on Nicetown and how he has been overlooked but that will not deter him from making his mark in the Philly music scene and soon worldwide. "Bucket low shades on, I’m ridin’ round wit your hoe" another speaker booming song to ride around to. Bars on a dope beat can’t get any better than that. "Who Do You Love (Freestyle) is one of my favorite tracks. Wingo also gives a shoutout to Simmybull and Dumbassdre who we also did a review and interview on there mixtape #ITSALLLOVE. (http://youtu.be/oKm3vBWhdVQ) If your in VIP and looking for a song to turn up to “Throw It Up” featuring E.Berrios and Young Ty is that song. Back to the “Trap” Wingo comes back with “This Aint What You Want”. Speaking on drama in Philly and how people need to stop sleeping on him, “Murder everything, till yall say I’m the best”. Hands down my favorite song and not because of the beat which is a classic. But “Deeper Cover” is going to get played back by everybody I know that for sure. “How you charge for a verse nigga where is ya buzz, bunch of Brillo pad rappers all these rappers is scrubs”, “Stop suckin niggas dick to get a cosign, that’s bad credit”. This track has more than that I promise you I won’t give it all away. Switching up the pace with “1 In Da Tuck” Wingo takes us on a journey through his soul from family problem, politics of the rap game and everyday drama in any hood. Check out video here (http://youtu.be/2mILRHMnki8). After “Tounge Ring” and “Hammer Dance” featuring Haitiock. Wingo pays homage to Jay-Z with a remake of the classic song “Girls, Girls, Girls”. But Wingo is showing love to all Philly girls. If you have ever dealt with a girl from Philly you will know exactly what he is talking about. After “Talk Heavy” Wingo drops another lyrical exercise on another classic beat “Award Tour”. Best thing about this song is how Wingo reinvented this song starting off with, “This ain’t for no backpack snapback, shit is potent for the smokers this is crack rap”. If you want to see how Wingo flipped this beat into his own check out the video of him riding around the city of Philadelphia. (http://youtu.be/bE9UHwxHBLs) After “My Nigga” featuring Haitiock and I-Know Brasco. Wingo follows up with “Use 2” produced by recent feature artist Young Ty and featuring Masiel. Different from what we have been getting throughout the mixtape but this also shows you that Wingo can switch it up and make tracks for the ladies so the diversity in his music is there. With the perfect outro to match the intro “No Topic” is self explanatory once again Wingo is displaying his lyrical versatility bouncing from subject to subject but the flow is keep everything in place and making this mixtape a more of a necessity to hear.
So throughout this mixtape you heard a lot I do wish there was a emotional revealing song on this mixtape to complete the full spectrum of a rap mixtape. But all in all this was a very lyrically fulfilling mixtape and Wingo Flames did his thing. Like I stated before Wingo is taking to the streets to get his mixtape out so be on the look out PA, DE, NJ, NY and ATL Wingo will be in your city and he will have these mixtape a with him. But if your not in those cities check out WingoFlames.com tomorrow July 30th for the mixtape. Also be on the lookout for the EP Streets Philosopher sometime during the 4th quarter of this year.
